In-process shot of me playing with scrap Stray Kittie tote bags. About most artistic things I tend to be very sloppy, but when it comes to painting on fabric, I end up more on the picky side. For a year I’ve been experimenting with various fabric paints — they’re all crap unless you spend an arm and a leg for a tiny tube — and have, I believe, finally come upon my own mixture of acrylic paints, gel medium (matte or glossy is very important depending on the type of fabric you are painting on), water and, sometimes, another fabric paint mixed in. Not much though. As I’ve said, fabric paints can be real jerks sometimes. Acrylic is magic once you figure out how to bend it to your will.
